The management team
PatientView has a premier management team. Alexandra Wyke, formerly of The Economist Group, is the founder and CEO. Clive Nead, experienced editor of business publications, is Editorial Director. Mat Philips is CEO of EngageHealth Alliance Europe (a PatientView sister organization that runs meetings on topics of importance to all healthcare stakeholders).
Alexandra Wyke (founder and Managing Director)
Alex is the founder of PatientView, which began life in 2000. Between 1996 and April 2000, Alex was responsible for creating and running a successful international healthcare publishing unit at the Economist Intelligence Unit. Between 1983 and 1996, Alex was the business and science correspondent for The Economist. Aside from her work in The Economist, her other publications include: articles in the Harvard Business Review, the Daily Telegraph, The Economist's The World in 1995, 19996, etc; a chapter in Going Digital, and a business report on motivating managers, published by The Economist Group. In 1997, her book, 21st-Century Miracle Medicine, was published by Plenum (see Amazon.com). Alex frequently lectures and chairs healthcare forums worldwide. She has consulted for stockbrokers, pharmaceutical firms and other organizations. She has worked for television and radio, appearing in an expert capacity in many programmes. In 1996, she was elected by the BBC to be part of a small team which assessed the corporation's radio and TV coverage of technology. Alex sits on the advisory boards of INSEAD's healthcare initiative. Alex has a PhD in biochemistry.
Clive Nead (Editorial Director)
Clive has two decades of experience as an editor of business publications. Before joining PatientView in 2000, he built up a large portfolio of work for a number of companies, including Shire Hall Communications (now part of WPP), The Economist Intelligence Unit, Illuminations (Channel 4), and SmithKlineBeecham. In addition, he has written four websites and produced promotional material for various websites (including ComMedica, which was part-owned by Imperial College). His university background was in modern history, librarianship and information technology.
Mat Phillips (CEO, EngageHealth Alliance Europe)
Mat has over twenty years of experience at senior level within the pharmaceutical industry, with over ten as Director at Johnson & Johnson. When he left the industry in 2010, Mat was convinced that if the life sciences industry could engage with the broadest-possible coalition of healthcare stakeholders, it would start to bring even more benefit to society. He was delighted to be able to team up with others sharing that vision. Mat is also Managing Director of consultancy Neovoca, Deputy Chair of the UK Pharmaceutical Marketing Society, and a Trustee of the Chilterns MS Centre.
